Rivermont School Staff Recognized at 2025 VAISEF Conference

Two Rivermont School staff members were honored at the 2025 Virginia Association of Independent Specialized Education Facilities (VAISEF) Conference in Virginia Beach, VA.
Teketia May, Principal of Rivermont Fredericksburg, received the Empowering Administrator Award. Janelle Shaffer, a teacher at Rivermont Greater Petersburg, was honored with the Margaret Shepherd Teaching Award.
The awards recognize outstanding contributions to the field of specialized education. The Empowering Administrator Award honors leadership that fosters positive change and supports staff and students effectively. The Margaret Shepherd Teaching Award acknowledges exceptional teaching that makes a significant impact on students' lives.
Their dedication, leadership, and impact on students and staff daily are truly deserving of this recognition. Their work highlights the dedication and excellence of Rivermont School staff in supporting students with special needs. Congratulations again to both Teketia May and Janelle Shaffer!
